Sunday March 22, 2009

Not sure when this will get posted as we are without internet again.

I have just a couple more pictures from Virgin River.  I really enjoyed this area.

I had to put up last nights sunset picture.

Okay on to today's adventures Pipe Spring Fort and Ranch.

This area had been settled by many different Indian Tribes.  Beginning in the 1700’s missionaries and explorers visited the area to chart the land.  In the mid-1800’s The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons') settled on the land.  They build a fort and started farming.

This is the original fort built by Brigham Young.

Kitchen living area for the ranch foreman and his family.

Inside the walls of the fort.  At times they had more then 40 men working the ranch.

Onto our snow storm at Jacobs Lake AZ.  We are just 55 miles from the north rim of the Grand Canyon.  Elevation 7920 feet.  We get halfway up the Hwy 89A to Jacobs lake and it starts to snow, not a little snow but a blizzard

If we were thinking we would have turned around and headed down the mountain, but no we kept going, it’s an adventure.

Taking a picture out the door of the MH...  Luckily there is a motel at the top of the pass and they let us stay in their parking lot for the night.

Not sure how many days we will be stuck here.  Two days ago it was in the high 80s at Virgin River and here we are now, what a little elevation will do.
