Trouble Posting Pictures

Here is 2 of the pictures I tried to post the other day. I hope to get better at this soon

Pengilly And Bingo

To start the pictures that didn't post the other day.

Saturday after cleaning cabins we went to Pengilly a small town about 25 miles from the resort. It was their Centennial Celebration. They had bingo and I love to play bingo, you paid 25 cents for a card. I won $10.00 and then I was done. We played 5 games I think, so I did come out ahead. They had a parade earlier in the day, lots of bands playing and in the evening they were having a street dance.

We went fishing this morning after I finished painting the trim on cabin 5. Between the 2 of us we must of gotten 100 little sunfish, only 7 keepers but enough for dinner for the 2 of us.
It was a tad on the warm side today. I checked the temp at 3 and it was 91 not really sure if my thermometer is accuate but it sure felt like 91. I went in the bedroom turned on the air and finished the book I was reading, Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich. I laughed so hard, she writes the funniest books. Not a great novel just lots of fun to read.

A Day On The Lake

We did some fishing today, no whales as you can see from the picture. We ended up with about
6 sunfish. I did catch one small northern so small we had to throw him back and hopefully I can catch him in a few years. Had losts of fun on the lake and took a ton of pictures, posted a few of them.

Went to dinner with some friends, John, Mary Jo and thier 15 month old grandson Hunter. We had the best prime rib at the Sceinic Pines Resturant. It's about 10-12 miles from the campground, nothing is close. Came home from dinner and had a very nice relaxing evening.

This is a picture of the channel we travel to get to the other lakes, it had lot of flowers in bloom.

The bridge we go under to get to the channel..

Just Another Day

Stormy likes to check out the campgrounds everyday. She has become dog friendly, quite the social little kitty.

We had rain Tuesday evening, not enough, everything is still really dry. The sun shines everyday so I don't complain. Went to Grand Rapids shopping yesterday, spent way to much money on food. I had to buy some jeans just in case the weather got cool. I haven't had long pants on in months, and they seemed to have shurnck.

I finished painting in cabin 5, but Mike has to finish his part, he was to busy playing lumber jack, and put the cabin on the back burner. He did say he was going to get to it today, but so far nothing.

A Little Work On The Roof

Mike finally got the parts for the air conditioner, not an easy job to install them. He had to take the cover off the air conditioning unit on
the roof. It was done in less then an hour. Nice cool morning to be working on the roof.

The picture below is of the people in a fifth wheel that also spend the summer up here. They have their 15 month old grandson, Hunter with them this week. Just as cute as can be, but oh so active, he likes to come over and visit with stormy all the time. Of course Stormy thinks this is great, some attention.

As you can see from the pictures it's another sunny day, not a cloud in the sky. I have to paint some trim on the outside of one of the cabins today or tomorrow whenever I get around to it, the sooner I start the sooner it will be done, and I can relax and read my book. I love to read outside in the shade, a good book and sun. Well to hot in the sun so I sit in the shade. I have to fill my humming bird feeders everyother day latley, the little things are eating like crazy, getting up their strength to fly south. As I sit and write this post they are outside my window just going nuts, fighting and chasing each other.

My Day Went To The Birds

The humming birds are coming to the feeders by the dozen. That time of year when they start to head south. I have 3 humming bird feeders right by the motorhome and they just love to come and dive bumb us in the evenings.

Anther warm sunny day. Cool again last night but it warmed up by noon. Wish it had stayed cool, more tree cutting and trimming today. I load the brush and trees onto a trailer and it does get hot working in the sun.

Lumber Jack Day

Mike and Gordy decided it was a good day to do some tree trimming. Well men and chain saws, down came the trees. they plan to do more trimming on Monday.

It was an absolutely gorgeous blue sky day. Woke up this morning with temps in the low 40s, but by afternoon it has warmed up to the 70s and so sunny.

I have to paint the bathroom in cabin #5 befoare Mike can lay the new flooring and put eveything back in. Hope to be done by Wed.

Mike came in from fishing last night with another whale story. Sure would like to see some of these fish. As soon as my ankle is better I will be with him and check out the whales.

A New Friend for Stormy

Stormy found a new friend the other day. I had some flower pots sitting outside and this little fellow came to visit the cats. Stormy thought he was pretty cool and wanted to play. Red Squriel didn't think that was such a good idea.

Wow sure is quiet around here, only have 5 cabins filled this week, more people will be coming for labor day weekend. Really nice not being filled this week. I guess people are getting thier kids ready for school.

Mike is out fishing. He's not having much luck lately, if we had to count on him for food we would be starving. He does come in tells me about the ones that got away, you would think the lake had whales in it.

We had a pretty good storm last night rain and lots of wind. It was cloudy most of today, really nice and cool, my kind of weather.

A Cloudy Day

Woke up this morning to a cloudy day. Rained a little in the afternoon hardly enough to get the ground wet. It looked like the sun might come out about 3:00 but it never happened. I stayed in the Motorhome most of the day just read and slept. I sprained my ankle Wednesday, and it is still very swollen and sore. Jackie came down today to see how I was doing and gave me the day off tomorrow, no cleaning cabins for me.

Mike is still working on the bathroom in cabin #5 he got the sub floor in now he has to take the door out and make it bigger to fit the new shower. He has to take his afternoon nap before he can start, priorities you know

I did get the refrigerator defrosted today, that's a 10 minute job.

Sunset at Balsam

Just Starting

We have been living and traveling in our motor home for 8 months now, and I have wanted to start a blog so here goes. Family and friends I will try to keep you posted on our travels and adventures.

This summer we are at Big Balsam Camp Resort on a lake just north of Grand Rapids MN. I started coming here with my parents when I was about 5 years old, and Mike has been joining me for the last 20 years or so. Four generations of our family now enjoy camping, fishing, swimming and friends at the lake.

We are Camp Host, helping the owners Jackie and Gordy Davis, with the maintance and running of the resort. I help clean cabins on Saturdays and Mike has been remodeling bathrooms and running sewer lines to the campsites. We only have to work about 20 hours a week, but Mike likes keeping busy so he just keeps going.
A picture of Mike digging the sewer lines.
