Pima Air And Space Museum

Monday we spent the day at the Pima Air and Space Museum. The museum has a collection of over 275 aircraft.  One of the largest space museums in the world.

This air craft served as the official Air Force One for Presidents Kennedy and Johnson 1961-1964

Sikorsky CH-5A “Skycrane”, used in Vietnam for transport and retrieval of downed aircraft.

Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird, is the world fastest and highest flying “air breathing” air craft.  On July 28, 1976 the plane set a world speed record of 2193 miles per hour.  It can fly at an altitude of     85, 068,997 feet .  The plan was retired in 1996

The museum is a must see if your in the Tucson area.  We enjoyed our second visit as much as the first.

At the end of our visit Mike took a 5 minute trip in the flight simulator, not for me, way to much action.P1010240
