Death Valley Day Three March 13th

We got an early start before it got to warm.  Headed out a 9am. and made lots of stops.

Our first stop was Badwater Pool, 282 feet below sea level.  The lowest point in North America. The area has a 1-5 foot layer of salt, four times saltier then the ocean.

There are chutes in the walls of the canyon formed by flood waters flowing from hanging side canyons.  This a is picture of the remnants.

Artist drive is a 9 mile detour off the main road in Death Valley.  You get to a place called Artist Palette and the colors are amazing.  The pictures just do not do it justice.

That was our day did a lot of driving and walking.  We found out you want to start in the morning by noon it is just to hot to move.   We pretty much just sat outside in the shade, and read and played Mexican Train with Steve and Sandy.
